Five Easy Steps to Start Living a Healthier Life

Do you want to start living and eating healthier, but feel overwhelmed with all the new trends and don’t know where to start? Perhaps you are already committed to healthy eating, but would like reinforce your healthy habits? Our daily demands and busy lives might keep us from cooking homemade meals or shopping for fresh produce on a regular basis. Our health and wellbeing has suffered in return and has been put in the back burner, leaving us with a sense of helplessness, lack of energy and emotionally and physically drained on a daily basis. The good news is that with some motivation, determination and small steps, this can lead you to positive changes in your overall health. Science is constantly evolving and with it, new discoveries. Most people are aware of the word antioxidants, but do you know what antioxidants really are?  To be more specific, do you know the role polyphenols play as antioxidants in our gut microbiome, immune system for the prevention of many illnesses including: cardiovascular disease, diabetes, some forms of cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases? Polyphenols are so much more than an antioxidant. Polyphenols are phytochemical compounds that plants produce to defend themselves from UV rays, pests and anything else that might harm them. It is also what gives them their color and to some of them, their bitter flavor.
